Dear Parents and Carers

I have just officially seen the first ‘Back to School’ advert on social media, which triggers the end of the summer holiday, focus on the Autumn Term and before we all know it a head long hurtle towards Christmas, via Halloween and Bonfire Night. How was the summer? Did you enjoy it? Did England win the cricket?
Certainly, the pace at which my colleagues have to adapt to change, new curricula, new examinations and all that comes with this is almost as rapid as the pace at which G Block is disappearing.

We started our rewards early, with Pride of Beaufort in June, followed by Sports Awards Evening, Year 5 Masterclasses, Principal’s Awards, Drayton Manor and of course The Prom, which significant numbers of year 11 paid nothing for due to amassing over 100 hours of additional study and revision – stunning. All those taking exams this year have been brilliant – well done. Next year, guess what, more change and more exams for all. We are ready. Year 6 were great on their induction day and all are really looking forward to working with them next year.

Inevitably at this time of year some staff move on, many to promoted posts due to the work they have done here. It was a pleasure to meet our new staff recently and I was really pleased, but not surprised, to see such vibrancy and energy and so many new ideas. Staff leaving at the end of the year are listed below and we will say goodbye at the end of term. Special mention goes to Karen Greening and Bob Major, who have been with us 12 years, Rachel Harvey 14 and Paul Bartlett who has done pretty much every job going over 38 years’ service. I am pleased to say he could have taught me and I don’t get many chances to say that at my age.

Members of staff leaving Beaufort this year are: Karen Crighton, Mark Waller, Amanda Fellows, Will O’Dowd, Lauren Pontin, Riana Campbell, Tom Hayward, Mary Carter, Ben Jones, Jade Markham, Christian Glover, Huw Roberts, Naomi Hopes.

All that is left is for me to wish you a peaceful, sunny summer in the good company of your children. It will be September before we know it and I will be looking forward to my annual warm welcome at Kingsholm. One year, maybe this one.

Take Care
